Get involved
NYCDOE and CUNY continue to build on a long-standing relationship based on the mutual commitment to high-quality education for the people of New York City.
From the school district’s side, NYCDOE’s Office of Postsecondary Readiness (OPSR) oversees the coordination and development of the schools. Alongside managing the operational, financial, and administrative systems needed for Grades 9-14 schools to function, OPSR aligns institutional policy and support structures to sustain the schools. NYCDOE also oversees school performance measures as part of overall state and federal accountability requirements.
NYCDOE and CUNY collaborated with IBM and New York City College of Technology to create the first NYC Grades 9-14 school in 2010. Since then more than a dozen other industry and partners have become involved in working with NYCDOE and CUNY to open NYC Grades 9-14 schools.
